Abstract

In many European educational systems, the intercultural model of learning foreign languages is integrated into modern Glottodidactics, while intercultural communicative competence is set as the outcome and goal of teaching. Intercultural communicative competence continues to be a novelty in the teaching process. It often happens that the cultural contents in textbooks are not analyzed, and the intercultural component is neglected when learning a foreign language. However, the development of awareness of the native and the target culture in the integrated learning of language and culture is important for several reasons and is an important element of awareness and identity of the individual who at the end of such designed education finds it easier in a multicultural society. The aim of this paper is to explain and justify the place that intercultural competence occupies in modern Glottodidactics and to offer suggestions for creative application of methods inside and outside the classroom.
