The aim of this paper is to examine the standards of student achievement after completing general secondary education in the field of reading with comprehension of an unknown text in Russian. Taking into account the output levels of achievement standards provided by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, represented by the scale of language acquisition from A1 to C2, we were interested in whether high school students and in what percentage reach general level. Of all the language skills, reading is the most common in the teaching of the Russian language in Serbian schools. We thought that it was well developed and that is why we wanted to explore the achievements in this language skill. We wanted to check what percentage of students reach the advanced level, prescribed by achievement standards (equal to level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The results of the research confirmed our assumptions: the percentage of respondents who reached the advanced level was 50%.
