The paper is about the interaction hypothesis, sociocultural and constructivist theory. Their basic principles are considered, as well as the possibilities of application in foreign language teaching supported by a computer. The advantages and disadvantages of the theoretical approaches we deal with in this paper will be presented on the example of a certain number of glottodidactic researches in which the effects of certain technologies are examined. The unanimous opinion of experts is that knowledge and application of scientifically based theories are the key to improving the quality of foreign language teaching, which is performed traditionally or with the help of computers.
